Identity and inclusion

What is culture for you? For me, culture is everything we do that creates our identity. This means understanding the power structures in society, how we are created by society, but also how we create society. This means embracing our unique combination of sexuality, gender expression, class and more that create us into the person we are. By understanding how these different categories influence each other, how they can be separated but also can exist in symbiosis, we can understand our own position in society and also that of others. Identity is not static but dynamic, which means that we are constantly changing.

Inclusion is not about having people of different ethnicities and sexualities represented in a company, organisation or society. Inclusion is about creating an atmosphere where people feel they can be themselves and where their culture and different perspectives can be genuinely expressed. How can we argue that we are working inclusively if people cannot be themselves? Here I use my lived experience and expertise to provide concrete tools for how you can work more inclusively, where not only numbers and statistics are given focus but also the overall feeling. I provide tools that help to create space where everyone can develop as individuals.
